Role: Intern | Contract: Fixed | Part-time / Flexible
Location: Remote or hybrid to suit postholder
London Living Wage for 18 weeks at 10 hours per week
Looking for Summer 2025.
Wild Arts are seeking an intern to act as the company's primary contact with our audience prior to and following each performance across our summer and autumn seasons (Monday 27 May to Friday 1 October), and to shadow our production team.
Who we are
Wild Arts is an environmental music and arts charity based in South East England, producing two festivals in Essex, a summer UK tour (with our first European performances in 2024), and a year-round programme including recording and concert projects.
Our vision is that great music and opera should be accessible to everyone. We re-invent opera in fresh and vibrant productions with quality at their core; work with schools and young artists, and offer apprenticeships to foster future talent; and aim to demonstrate how the performing arts can be environmentally sustainable. In 2023 the company performed to over 6,000 people across 37 venues and 42 performances.
About the role
Wild Arts is built around a small 3-person core team - Orlando (Artistic Director), Aki (Lead Producer), and Max (Producer). The intern's primary role would be digital audience management (responding to ticketing and audience email enquiries). Any remaining time would then be used to shadow Aki and to work with our new Development Manager, with Max as pastoral point of contact.
The role would be flexible, with 10 hours per week over 5 working days. These hours can be anytime of day, but must include a check-in on every performance day (with on average two shows per week). Where 12-hour/7-day weeks would be required around our headline summer and autumn festivals (17-23 June and 24-29 September), equivalent time will be given off in the following week.
While they may work from anywhere, the successful applicant would be welcome to join the team in Elephant and Castle, London, across the rehearsals of The Magic Flute (27 May to 7 June), and at Layer Marney Tower in Essex for the Essex Summer Opera Festival (17-23 June; accommodation, food, and travel expense provided, with free access to all performances).
Wild Arts would also love to discuss any further (unpaid) work-experience opportunities across these production weeks that may interest the candidate.
In particular, we are looking for someone who:
