support us

Help us bring world-class opera to a uniquely wide variety of people through our annual tour.

We also aim to give musical inspiration to young people, improving their self-esteem, teamwork and academic results, through our schools work from 2023.

The long-term dream of Wild Arts is a new opera house, performance space and arts education centre, set in a re-wilded and bio-diverse environment, and built from sustainable materials and with regenerative, carbon positive operation.

The performance centre will enable us to fully realise our three founding ideals. World-class performance, one-planet living, and at half our activity involving and engaging with young people and emerging talent.

When we admire a majestic tree, we are only seeing half of it. The other half, planted in the soil, is vital to its life. The roots gather nutrients and enable the tree to grow, flourish and stand strong.

In the same way, when we enjoy a great performance on stage, the performance relies on the inspiration that music education gives, allowing them to develop their talent to become inspiring musicians and artists.

We need to nourish our roots to help the magic of high quality music continue. We will spend half our sponsor’s funds on developing talent and bringing opera and music to young people.

From the initial conception in the director’s mind many months before the first rehearsal, through the collaboration with designer and music director, rehearsals with singers and finally with orchestra, the whole process will be made possible by your support.

Production sponsors will be invited to singer auditions and the initial presentation by the stage director in the autumn, the model box showing by the designer in the spring, coaching sessions by our Patron Roderick Williams MBE, and rehearsals in May and June.

Please get in touch if you would like to form a supporters circle to sponsor a production.

Our productions rely on new realisations for just seven instruments, bringing the colours of each instrument vividly to life and showcasing the talent of our chamber musicians. You will receive your own signed copy of the arrangement.

Sponsor a principal singer

Supporting a principal soloist means you are enabling the very core of what we do, supporting the incredibly talented soloists who we work with to further their skill, hone their stagecraft, and develop as an artist, giving the audience the most thrilling evening.

Sponsor a principal singer

A unique and key element of Opera at Layer Marney is the quality of the eminent chamber musicians who Orlando gathers together. Working collaboratively, the success of each performance rests on the quality of each and every player. Chat to the musicians at the after-show party.

Sponsor a young singer

Support our apprentice scheme

By supporting a ‘cover’ singer, you are enabling them to learn the role, attend rehearsals, learn from and be mentored by the established artists who they are shadowing, perform in a young artist showcase to which we will invite industry professionals, and be ready to save the day and go on to perform the role in the actual performance.

They will also be coached by our patron Roderick Williams OBE, one of the world’s most eminent baritones.

An opera production relies on a range of key skills and knowledge. Carpenters, costume experts, stage managers, writers, linguists and of course musicians including the repetiteur, who plays the whole orchestral score on the piano for rehearsals and also coaches the singers.

From 2023, the Opera Festival will give opportunities for young people to shadow & learn from the top professionals. Please get in touch with your personal area of interest.
